Construction Projects

This page contains information about the many important projects impacting residents, businesses, and visitors to the City of Horace. Below are project status summaries for active projects this calendar year. The Road Report is updated weekly on Fridays from the start of the spring construction season, through Labor Day. Street Construction

Preliminary Planning is ongoing.  Public input meeting held on January 16, 2020.  Over 50 attendees.  Send project feedback to City Hall.  More updates coming related to Wall Ave improvement and cost options. 2020/2021
Street and Storm Sewer Improvement District No. 2019?2 Project is 94% complete, Project has been suspended until Spring. Final pavement marking will be completed in the spring. 2019/2020
ND Parks and Recreation Trails Grant Bike and walking path north of school along County 17.  Project on hold due for the winter. 2020
Chestnut Drive mill and overlay. Chestnut drive street repair is scaled back from original design.  Preliminary design options in progress to reduce cost.  Plan to present to residents for approval. 2020
Maple Lane Street and Drainage Improvements

Culvert has been installed. Black dirt has been installed. Final grading, seeding and mulching will be completed this spring. 2020

Street improvement.  Milling and 2" HBP overlay.  Preliminary Engineering Report completed.  Notice for Public Input published for July 19 closure.  Project complete. COMPLETE
Pedestrian Crossing on Cass County 17 near Horace Elementary Project and engineering plans are approved.  Project construction completed. COMPLETE
8th Ave Extension for Truck Route
2017-05
Planning to install a new street to accommodate a truck route for local commercial traffic to reduce load on residential streets.  Project postponed due to resident protest. ON HOLD
Water Construction

Waterline Replacement 2020-6 Crews have conducted preliminary surveying including locating and documenting the physical features in the project area such as watermain gate valves, fire hydrants, water curb stops, and trees among others. Click here for a map of the proposed project area. Fall 2021
City Water Meter replacement Purchase equipment and replacement water meters for all City of Horace water users to enable remote reading.  This project is necessary to improve the accuracy of water usage and assess costs of water delivery.  Working on project close out. Complete

Water supply and storage study Engineering study for water treatment plant and storage improvements ? does not include
water appropriations. Discuss options to improve water quality and supply and storage. Working on modeling current system for flow and pressure. Preliminary Engineering Report. IN PROCESS and reviewing options.

Gate valve replacement Replacement of main gate valves in specific locations to improve isolation of water mains. Working with City Public Works to determine which valves to replace and location for new valves. 2020

lagoon reaching capacity and un?permitted discharge.  This supports Horseshoe Bend development connection.

Sanitary sewer service to 100th Ave area.  Plans and Specifications are being prepared.  This supports future Maple Lakes development connection.

Storm Sewer Construction

Horace Storm Water Policy Work has started revising the Horace Storm Water policy document similar to what is used by West Fargo.  Required by the state to have a policy in place to guide development.
