The City of Horace is accepting applications to become a Planning and Zoning Commissioner!
The City is seeking applicants to fill two seats on the Planning and Zoning Commission. The first seat has two years remaining in a five-year term. The second seat is currently vacant and is a full five-year term. Both seats are renewable following completion of the term.
The Planning and Zoning Commission serves in an advisory capacity. They meet bi-monthly on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month as necessary to hear and provide recommendations to the City Council on applications detailed in the City’s Land Use Ordinance including, but not limited to, Subdivision Plats, Zoning District Amendments, Conditional Use Permits, and Variances.

The Planning Commission provides development application recommendations to the City Council and evaluates all building permit applications for properties located in commercial and industrial zoning districts. Recommendations are based on Horace's zoning ordinances and the 2045 City of Horace Comprehensive Plan.
